Static websites are sites where the content and layout/appearance are all put together by the web designer and those pages are the ones which are seen by the viewers. If you need to modify this type of site, you will probably have to go back to the person who created it and ask them to update it. This could lead to additional costs every time an update is required.
1) This type of site needs special software and knowledge to create
2) The same is true when it comes to modifying or updating the content
3) Changeing the structure or adding new sections to the site is difficult
4) Best suited to simple sites where the content does not often change

Dynamic (also known as content managed) websites have numerous advantages over static sites. They are generally more expensive to initially setup but can be cheaper to maintain as the content can easily be updated by the site owner. With these sites, the content is separate from the layout/appearance which means that the content can be altered without causing major disruption to the layout. The advantages are:-
1) Site owners can alter and update their own content
2) Different individuals can be made responsible for updating different areas of the site
